And we finish off Halloween with yet another film where strippers (And in this film prostitutes) take on a zombie hoard. Again. 'Zombies Zombies Zombies' and 'Zombie Strippers' both came out the same year so it really was a battle of which was better. I'm going to try and avoid comparing the two and define this film on its own merits. I will say this, I think the strippers in this film are more attractive than the ones in 'Zombie Strippers'.
'Zombies Zombies Zombies' finds strippers, hookers, some guys, and a pimp (Who I'll come back to later) joining forces when a drug dealer takes an experimental drug from a medical research centre. That's right, a drug dealer, Lucas (Rob Calvet) somehow not only has a connection to a medical research centre, he apparently has a pass since he managed to get into restricted areas with no problem. Said drug turns a hooker into zombie and they all amass at the strip club. I will add that the hooker does ask Lucas where he got the drug, and he doesn't tell her; let's be honest, even if he did tell her the truth, do we really think she'll believe "I got it from a scientist at a government funded medical research centre who is on the brink of revolutionising modern day medicine as we know it"?
The plot basically follows the same outline as 'Zombie Strippers', even down to the zombie virus originating from a government funded facility. And there really isn't anything I can say different in regards to that, both films are actually quite similar. On its own, I suppose I do prefer 'Zombies Zombies Zombies' story line, in which it only follows the one plot instead of cramming two different stories into one. I will say I do like how this film, in a way, pays homage to the Romero films, as it puts a group of people who are in different groups, which don't like each other, and looks at them working together.
The acting, is better than expected. This film does not have the best acting talent, far from it, especially since it's missing the legendary Robert Englund. But you can see potential, you can see them at least trying to not act like a piece of wood. The characters meanwhile, there is a variety, which I do actually like. Unlike 'Zombie Strippers' where all the characters melded into one, this film actually has different personalities which can bounce off each other and give a lot of interaction. Even if Pandora (Juliet Reeves) is one of the stupidest characters I've ever seen. She doesn't even know her actual name.
Speaking of characters, because of the different personalities it does mean we get some character development, some of which is rushed. But we do still get some characters we do like, like Clive (Valensky Sylvain). I love Clive, he's awesome. Even minor characters like Hank (William Horne) and DJ Spin (Josh Kelley) are enjoyable.
We also get a...nice cameo from Tiffany Shepis. All this adds to the film is that she's in a fake film being watched by a little girl (Who I'll ignore as being really bad at acting as she's a little kid) before Chris (Sean Harriman) turns it off saying "Zombies. Who makes this garbage?", before the film replies with 'In the Dark Entertainment'. The effects and make-up, I have to admit, are pretty damn good. I don't really recall anything truly bad in this film. Except the exploding zombies. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.
But in all honesty, this film is pretty much average. Sure it's a bad film, but it's an enjoyable one. However, I love this film, for one reason; Johnny 'Back Hand' Vegas. He makes this film. I repeat, he MAKES this film. If he wasn't in this, this film would in no doubt suck. But thanks to Vegas, this film is really entertaining. Anthony Headen plays the character just right; slightly over the top, funny, and enough for him to be taken seriously. Vegas is hilarious, most of his dialogue generates laughs. He gives the most memorable line in the film, which is actually spoofed from another film ("I'm sick of these motherf**king zombies, in this motherf**king strip club!"), and is so awesome he bitch slaps zombies. Seriously, he is the BEST thing in this.
And that's basically the conclusion, if this film did not have Johnny 'Back Hand' Vegas, it wouldn't be half as entertaining. But I will give the film this, even if it didn't have him in it, it would have still been better than 'Zombie Strippers'. Just barely though, Englund does save a lot in 'Zombie Strippers'. All in all, this film is only worth watching for Vegas, the rest of it, is just pretty mediocre.
