Top 11 Television Show Villains

It’s CHRISTMAS! So let’s start this off the top eleven television villains. What? It’s festive! Oh okay it’s not festive, it’s just continuing on from my top eleven video game villains. Why top eleven? Well, I did the video game one as top eleven, so I might as well keep with the theme. So, here we go.

Number 11. The humans in Point Pleasant – Point Pleasant

That’s right, in a show where it’s Good vs. Evil with the fate of the world on the line, the humans are the villains! Sort of. While Lucas Boyd (Grant Show) is probably the actual main antagonist until Christina (Elisabeth Harnois) takes charge, they have NOTHING compared to the human characters in this show.

Let’s start with the concept, Christina finds herself washed up on a beach at Point Pleasant, where she is taken in by the Kramer’s. Christina eventually finds that she is the daughter of the devil and is destined to bring about the Apocalypse, with Boyd is a servant of Lucifer, tasked with protecting Christina. Jesse Parker (Samuel Page) serves as a love interest, but he then finds that he is destined to fight Christina, whilst Judy Kramer (Aubrey Dollar) serves as the best friend. At the same time, a religious group have come into town, intent on killing Christina, with Jesse as their soldier.

Basically, it all hinges on love, friendship and family to save the day. But do any of the humans do that? Hell no!

The religious group try to kill Christina every chance they get, Judy kicks her out the house, Jesse runs away screaming at one point, Hell, the religious group even get Christina’s biological mother to try and help kill her! How low can you get?!

Not only does Judy kick her out of the house, but when the time came to truly help Christina, she constantly insults and angers her! She yells that Christina is “psychotic” IN THE SAME HOUSE! It’s not like Christina can hear you Judy! Oh look at that, she heard you.

And Jesse! Oh God! He joins the religious group, though you think he’s doing it to protect Christina. He goes to the Kramer residence and tells Christina he loves her, that they can tell Destiny to go screw itself, that all they need is each other. Then he stabs her in the chest. Dude! You just manipulated the feelings Christina had for you, you told her you loved her, then literally stabbed her in her heart. You douche! He would have killed her if the religious group’s ritual wasn’t foiled by Sheriff Logan Parker, Jesse’s father, so the wound Christina receives wasn’t fatal. Granted, I do actually think Jesse truly loved her, but he was a moron!

Especially since it was pretty much forced down everyone’s throats that love was the answer to the situation. God even sent David Burke (John Diehl) as a messenger to tell Jesse, bluntly I might add “Thou shalt not kill,”. You know, one of God’s first rules that he gave humanity?

So yeah, it wasn’t the actions of some demonic force which brought upon the Apocalypse, it was the constant betrayal of those close to Christina; it was Judy kicking out Christina, Jesse running away and stabbing Christina, Christina’s mother wanting to kill her, and the religious group trying to kill her because they got their own God damn prophecy wrong! Hell, the only person in this show who DOESN'T betray Christina, was Boyd, and he’s the servant of Satan! (The guy on the right is NOT Boyd).

Now that I think about it, the humans from Point Pleasant should be higher on this list! They’re now number five, I’ve made it official! Because with humans like these guys, the Devil is a beacon of hope! So which side will I join? Lucifer! If I join your side can I date your daughter?

Number 10 (a.k.a the new number 11). – The Three Families

For a recent addition to the Torchwood franchise they were certainly the most powerful. Okay, Abaddon from the first season finale was effectively more powerful since it was a demon related to the Beast, but the Three Families were the most dangerous human foes to have been in the Torchwood series yet.

They first came to light when they came across the immortal Jack Harkness in 1928. There, they decided to share his ‘gift’ with the rest of the world, orchestrating the Miracle Day event in 2011 where the people of Earth stop dying. They do this by introducing Jack’s immortal blood to the Blessing; a second pole which ran through the Earth and...made people live, I’m not entirely sure what it was exactly.

Of course this creates anarchy. People start up cults, the world goes into recession, superbugs become even more super, resources deplete, Governments put together death camps, the world just goes to Hell. Not that the Families care, they just want to manipulate the events so that they can rule the planet.

What makes the Three Families so dangerous though, is that they were hidden so well, yet they had people EVERYWHERE, including the CIA. They were even capable of manipulating information on a global scale, including erasing their own existence, without anyone noticing. They were literally hiding in plain sight, yet no-one could see them if they tried.

The fact that they destroyed the world in order to take it over, showed how determined they were. It showed how powerful they were in the resources they already have. They must have one Hell of a bank account for all the stuff they did. Their plans were so advanced, that they had to wait for technology to develop before advancing with them. They waited 83 years for God’s sake! That’s probably their most dangerous trait; they’re patient. They even managed to make the people of Torchwood, the heroes, the biggest mass murderers in history.

 

Yet bizarrely, at the end of it, the Torchwood people thought that that was the end of it. The two leaders of the Three Families are dead and the world has been returned to normal. But, here’s the thing guys, you killed two leaders of the Three Families. Do you not see a problem here? Sure enough there’s still a third leader out there, and, even worse, he has a “Plan B”.

Number 9 (a.k.a the new number 10). Slappy the Dummy - Goosebumps

Okay, I’m cheating a little bit here, since Slappy is originally from the Goosebumps books, But the television series was a great part of my life when I was younger. Whilst I did read the Goosebumps books before, it was the television series that persuaded me to read a book a day. I was that huge a fan.

Slappy the Dummy is, well, a dummy that was brought to life by an ancient sorcerer. Why? I can’t remember. But Slappy would go on to terrorise many families, at first he just played cruel pranks, before trying to bash some parents heads in with a guitar. He has a range of powers, from his enhanced strength to some form of selective teleportation to possession and...dummy manipulation I suppose; he can bring dummy’s to life and also transform humans into dummy’s.

Slappy’s main goal in life is to have a slave, normally the person who acquires him, though he can attempt to rule over more than one person. That’s basically it. Though he does tend to destroy any other dummy in the vicinity.

But he’s such a great character. He’s smart, sardonic, yet quite funny. He also has Starscream’s immortal spark, so he can never die; he just possesses someone if his body is destroyed. How can you not like him?

Number 8 (a.k.a. the new number 9) The Master – Doctor Who

What if the Doctor, was insane and evil? Well that’s what the Master effectively is. Driven insane when he looked into the Time Vortex when he was eight, the Master would go on to terrorise the Doctor, the Earth and, at some points, threaten the universe.

Some of his accomplishments include taking over the Earth (twice in the revived series with the 10^th Doctor), killing millions (if not billions), entrapping the Doctor and aging him rapidly to 900 years old, almost destroyed the universe when he tried to bring the Time Lords back from the Time War, manipulating pretty much everyone and creating a Paradox machine from the TARDIS. And those are just from the revived series.

The Master was considered so powerful, the Time Lords revived him in order to help fight off the Daleks in the Time War. It didn’t do much good since the Master fled when the Dalek Emperor took control of the Crucible; something which even scared the Master. But it wasn’t just the Time Lords which were capable of bringing the Master back to life, as he himself defeated Death. He left some of his disciples instructions in case he died, which enabled him to come back to life. Granted his ex-wife tried to disrupt it which meant the Master now had to continuously eat in order to survive. But it did give him the ability to jump great distances and shoot lightning out of his hands...yeah that was a bit stupid.

Whilst I’m not that familiar with the old series (I did see some of the old Master episodes, but not a lot), he still left a great impression on me, and Derek Jacobi and John Simm did a fantastic job in resurrecting the Master in the revived series.

The main aspect of the Master was his wit and humour, the scene at the table in Number 10 (when he became Prime Minister) was absolutely brilliant. The thing is, it was the Doctor’s fault the Master became Prime Minister and took control of the planet. Why? Well, what’s her name, Harriet Jones was suppose to be Prime Minister for three terms; the Doctor made it so that she didn’t even serve a second, which enabled the Master to step in. I suppose you can also say it lead onto the events which occurred when the Master was resurrected. Damn it Doctor, you almost killed us all twice!

The Master is definitely one of the Doctor’s most feared enemies of all time.

Number 7 (a.k.a the new number 8). Myotismon – Digimon

Ah Myotismon, the vampire Digimon. Being an ultimate level he was extremely powerful, easily fighting the Digidestined champion level Digimon with ease. It wasn’t until the Digidestined Digimon could reach ultimate level that they able to better fight Myotismon (even then it proved difficult).

Myotismon successfully manipulated the Digidestined, he terrified his followers and his lust for power knew no bounds; not only did he want to rule the Digital world, he wanted to rule the human world too. After crossing over to the real world he tried in vain to find the eight Digidestined, but his henchmen failed.

As stated Myotismon is powerful; he can generate a fog across a city, he can fight multiple Digimon at a time, he even KILLS some Digimon (I thought this was a kids show?!) and demonstrated telekinesis. While in the Digital world he feasted on the defeated data of Digimon, while in the human world he developed a taste for human blood. Again, I thought this was a kids show?!

Not even death could stop him as he comes back as a mega level VenomMyotismon; though at the sacrifice at his intelligence, driven by a hunger to feed. As VenomMyotismon it took not one, but two other Mega level Digimon, as well as the other Digidestined Digimon, in order to defeat him. He even came back to life a second time, possessing a human character, killing the Mega level BlackWarGreymon and coming back as MaloMyotismon, retaining his intelligence and becoming even more cruel and sadistic. As MaloMyotismon he tortured his henchmen as a means to “test out” his new body, and even all the Digivolved forms of the Digidestined Digimon and an army of Digimon couldn’t kill MaloMyotismon; it did, however, cause him to retreat. It took the Digivices to help dissolve MaloMyotismon into a dark spirit, then for Imperialdramon Fighter Mode to finally defeat him once and for all. Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, by the way, is an alternate mega form with Imperialdramon who is a DNA combination deigivolved form between Wormmon and Veemon, two rookie Digimon.

Bit of a weird ending to such an awesome villain.

Number 6 (a.k.a the new number 7). Karl Knave - Goosebumps

Now unlike Slappy, Karl was actually a first for the television series; the Chillogy episodes weren’t based off any books of the same name, though they do have some bits taken from the Monster Blood stories. The Chillogy episodes were original episodes, ones which R.L. Stein actually had no part in the writing.

And so we have our villain Karl Knave (Daniel Kash), who runs a town called Karlsville and the townsfolk, of course, love him. The problem? Karlsville is a model town. Karl is a model, the townsfolk are models, everything is a model.

But his powers make him extremely dangerous. He can pull people into the model town, and gives them tasks. In the show he first pulls Jessica (Caterina Scorsone) into the town after overhearing her refusing to loan some money to her brother for their parents anniversary present. Citing this greed, he tasks Jessica one simple task; sell some of his patented lemonade for $1 ONLY. After hearing from the customers that the lemonade was worth more than a dollar, she not only increases the price but holds back the quantity to get an even higher price for the “last” cup. This backfires and Karl turns Jessica into a pig, then gets the whole town to hunt her down. Jessica is just barely saved by her little brother and she throws the model town out.

 

It doesn’t end there though, since Jessica’s friends Mathew and Todd Erikson (Warren Benns and Neil Denis respectively) found and took possession of it. Karl would then force to make Mathew play a near impossible game of baseball, which Karl makes even more difficult by moving the bases, adding flows of lava, a pitcher which tries to bowl his head off, enlisting a team of monsters, and then the baseball tries to eat him.

Karl then brings Todd into play and tries to make him into a living doll! That’s right ‘Doctor Who’, your ‘Night Terrors’ episode wasn’t the first! By God his living doll minions were scary, especially since the show was aimed at the younger audience.

The Goosebumps franchise had some memorable villains and evil items, Slappy I’ve already mentioned, the camera that causes accidents/kills, the undead, vampires, a sponge (yes, a sponge), but Karl was essentially a God. He controlled and created everything and anything in Karlsville, and he even had some control over the world beyond Karlsville; managing to turn out the lights in Mathew’s bedroom and create leaflets in the mail.

But you also got to give a nod to the actor Daniel Kash, who portrayed different aspects to the character and obviously had fun in his role. Karl’s wit and charm made him a fantastic villain, not even a vacuum cleaner could stop him.

Number 5 (a.k.a the new number 6). The Daleks – Doctor Who

Well, you knew these guys were going to pop up at some point. The Daleks are one of the Doctor’s scariest villains, keeping people behind the sofa since their creation in 1963, as well as probably the most memorable.

They first appeared in the serial, aptly named, ‘The Daleks’, where they are at war with the Thals, and the TARDIS crew manage to persuade the Thals to commit GENOCIDE against the Daleks. That was a weird thing for the TARDIS crew to do. But, as the 10^th Doctor has stated “They always survive while I lose everything,”. The Daleks have survived everything that has been thrown against them, becoming something of a terrifying legend in the Who universe as they pop up over history.

The Daleks themselves, later revealed to have been created by a wheelchair-bound Davros on the planet Skaro, are genocidal monsters, they want to wipe out every single other species in the universe. The only time they don’t consider killing others is when they join forces with all of the Doctor’s other foes to form an Alliance, pool resources and technologies, and entrap the Doctor in the Pandorica (a type of prison) since they all feared that the Doctor was going to destroy the universe. The Daleks posed such a threat that the Timelords challenged them to a war (the Time War), which the Daleks ended up winning and forcing the Doctor to wipe out both sides in order to stop the Daleks from being victorious. Four Daleks alone were more than a match for the combined forces of Torchwood One and a Cyberman invasion force.

Their pepperpot bodies have become as iconic as the show, with their plunger and whisk-like arms. Whilst they look silly, they’re extremely deadly; the whisk fires a laser which pretty much kills everything it comes in contact with, and the plunger arm can crush a man’s skull. The bodies are protected by a forcefield which protects it from most weaponry; the only time a weapon managed to affect the armour was in ‘Doomsday’, but the armour quickly adapted to nullify the weapon. The body can also turn 360 degrees quickly and easily so it can target multiple enemies. And, whilst it has been on the receiving end of jokes throughout the years, it was actually shown in ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ that they can HOVER, so they can go up stairs and even fly in space.

The Daleks do have weaknesses though. Concentrating fire on the eyestalk can render the Dalek blind. Though paintball ammo doesn’t work so well. And in ‘Journey’s End’ it’s revealed Davros built a control panel which can 1. Turn off the reality bomb which the Daleks had built, 2. Render the Daleks weapons useless, 3. Make the Daleks dance and 4. Make them blow up. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE THAT?!

Anyway, the second you hear “exterminate!”, RUN LIKE HELL!

Number 4. Lord Zedd – Mighty Morphing Power Rangers

Lord Zedd, the first really scary character I ever came across. Seriously, he was so evil parents complained and the show was forced to tone him down! He went from this truly evil force, to being a bumbling corny character.

Nevertheless his initial attacks on the Power Rangers became increasingly deadly. I mean, his first monster took control of the Tyrannosaurus Zord and Dragonzord! He created evil copies of the Power Rangers, had conquered half the galaxy, created stronger Putties (henchmen), captured the Falconzord and Ninjor, acquired the Shogunzords (before, inevitably, losing them), released Ivan Ooze from his prison (though they would later cheer on the Rangers when Ivan planned to takeover) and orchestrated the destruction of the command centre! That’s right, the command centre of the Power Rangers was blown up!

And whilst the Rangers have zords, Zed has the Serpentara. That’s right, Zedd had his own zord! A zord so big and powerful it could literally step on the Rangers zords! Hell, it blew up a planet! The only reason why Zedd doesn’t just kill the Rangers with this zord, is because, since it’s so big, it uses vast quantities of fuel really fast, though he does manage to destroy the Thunder Megazord at one point. While a similar one does appear in Power Rangers Wild Force, it can’t be the same one because Zedd flew off with it, it’s much smaller and has a different colour scheme. I think it’s a prototype, but even that proved to be difficult for the Rangers to handle.

Lord Zedd and his wife Rita would have taken over the Earth then, if they weren’t attacked by the Machine Empire. While they did manage to put a puppet ruler, Louie Kaboom, in charge, they lost command of him. Their hatred of the Machine Empire even lead to Zedd helping the Rangers at one point. Zedd would later have his revenge on the Machine Empire when he gave them a present...which then blew them up.

Zedd was replaced by later villains for the later incarnations of the Power Rangers, a form of retirement shall I say. Though he would follow Dark Spectre and joined the attack on the universe, where he took control of the Vica Galaxy and captured the Gold Ranger. However Zordon was sacrificed in order to turn the villains into sand, with the exception of Rita, Zedd and Divatox (the Turbo Rangers villain) who are purified and are turned good and human. Wait, that’s the second group of heroes on this list that commits genocide! What the Hell?

But Lord Zedd’s evil legacy has lived on, and is something that many fans can look back and enjoy.

Number 3. Lucifer - Supernatural

Okay, you all knew that the Devil was going to turn up sooner or later.

This Lucifer was the endgame for the demons, destined to bring about the Apocalypse and fight Michael. Lucifer was told by God to bow down to and love humanity, love them more than God. Lucifer refused, and even turned one into the first demon Lilith. This caused Michael to cast Lucifer into a cage, where he waited until Sam Winchester unintentionally released him.

The Winchesters, Dean and Sam, find that they’re suppose to be the vessels for the Archangels Michael and Lucifer respectively. Whilst the Winchesters refuse to be their vessels stops Michael temporarily, Lucifer finds a temporary vessel straight away, knowing that Sam will say yes eventually. But even for a temporary vessel, Lucifer was extremely powerful, and he only grew stronger.

Lucifer bounded Death to him, he killed his Archangel brother Gabriel, he can manipulate the weather and can freeze objects, Hell, he kills some Gods from other religions ALL IN ONE NIGHT! Including Baldur and Odin from Norse mythology, Ganesh from Hinduism, Baron Samedi from Haiti voodoo, two unnamed Gods, and the old Roman God Mercury. I’m sure all the other religions liked that. Kali even tries to set him on fire with her pyrokinesis, but it fails. Obviously. I mean, it’s the freaking Devil! Did you really think you could set the guy in charge of Hell on fire?

And, again, that’s in his temporary form. In his Sam vessel he brings the Earth to its knees and kills the angel Castiel, as well as almost beating Dean to death.

With his hatred of humans, Crowley, a crossroads demon that does deals, helps the Winchesters as he theorises that when he’s done with killing humans, demons will be the next thing on his hit list as they’re the next closest thing to being human (they are created from humans after all). This is confirmed to be true when he sacrifices an entire towns worth of demons to summon Death, and says to a surprised Sam “What? They’re only demons,”.

Even when he’s been put back into the Cage he’s still trouble, as a version of Lucifer starts haunting Sam. While he later says that he’s a hallucination, we have no idea what this hallucination does or if Lucifer can actually control it. For all we know Lucifer did a Bakura and left a portion of himself in Sam’s head.

Lucifer portrays himself as a tragic villain, and you know how much I love those. He genuinely shows concern and guilt over his fellow angels, especially his Archangel brothers and those who have to die when fighting his crusade. He tries to persuade Michael to let him kill the humans and that God wanted him (Lucifer) to become the Devil. He even becomes angry when Castiel molotovs Michael with holy oil. His view was that he stood up for what was right and casted aside for it. Though to most of the others, Lucifer is just having a temper tantrum.

 

But what makes Lucifer such a fascinating character are the actors and actresses who portray him, in particular Mark Pellegrino, the one who mainly portrays him. Pellegrino was a fantastic choice to play Lucifer, you can’t help but fall in love with him.

Lucifer truly deserves a spot on this list, he is the Devil after all.

Number 2. Azazel - Supernatural

So who can top Lucifer? His minion of course!

Azazel, more commonly known as Yellow Eyes before being named in season three, served as the King of Hell whilst Lucifer was imprisoned in the Cage, and was a pivotal part of the plan to release Lucifer from the Cage.

Azazel was there from the beginning of the Winchesters story. He was in Sam’s bedroom when he was a baby and poured his demon blood into his mouth, before killing his mother Mary and setting the family off on their supernatural hunt.

Azazel effectively manipulates the Winchesters into doing everything he wants. He sends demons to possess important people in Sam’s life to manipulate him, orders the death of Sam’s girlfriend, and he even gets the Winchester family to fight each other as he possesses their father, John, and their grandfather, Samuel. As Dean finds out, it’s actually his fault that Azazel knows how to manipulate them, as when Castiel sends Dean back in time, he unwittingly tells Azazel everything.

Putting that aside, Azazel has no problem killing people, including Samuel and Deanna Campbell and John Winchester. Yes, he does kill the Winchesters father, but he brings him back to life after making a deal with Mary which involves Azazel infecting Sam with the demon blood; their mother knew Azazel was coming. He does...sort of kill John as he gets John to trade his life for Dean’s, who was dying while in a coma, as well as obtain the Colt; a gun which can permanently kill almost anything (normally demons would just go to Hell and come back).

Of course, Azazel was powerful and, as the King of Hell, he was more powerful than your normal demon. He’s impervious to holy water, is unaffected by salt barriers, can manipulate a person’s dreams, has telekinesis and pyrokinesis, he can possess humans and reapers (forces which take the recently deceased to Heaven or Hell), possesses enhanced strength, can make deals, and can cause internal bleeding and wounds.

In order to free Lucifer he infected a number of kids with demons blood so that they can develop powers when older. He would then manipulate these people to kill each other to get the strongest one, then use the survivor to open a gateway to Hell and release countless demons, including Lilith who is needed to break the final seal to release Lucifer.

Despite being killed by Dean and the Colt, he was such a great villain that he continued to haunt the Winchesters, this includes being a hallucination to Dean and showing him images of torturing those Dean loved. Sam meanwhile has become addicted to demon blood, with some assistance from another demon called Ruby.

Again, like the actor who portrayed Lucifer, it’s those who portray Azazel who truly make him brilliant. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who also plays John Winchester, did a great job as Azazel, adding a bit of Jack Nicholson from The Shinning and a sadistic sense of humour which all the other actors did brilliantly as well. But Frederic Lehne was born to do that character; he was originally intended to be Azazel for one episode, but the producers liked him so much they gave him the part for the season finale.

Azazel, an awesome villain.

Number 1. Sylar – Heroes

Sylar is awesome, simple fact. Sylar is a truly brilliant tragic villain, he starts off as Gabriel Gray, a normal everyday man. But he felt he was to do great things, he wanted to be something special, he wanted to be anything than a watchmaker like his father before him.

Then came Chandra Suresh, who told Gabriel that he was special, that he had a power. After tests proved futile Chandra gives up, which angers Gabriel. While storming out he takes a piece of paper with Brian Davis’ name. He contacts him, and it’s revealed Brian has telekinesis. It’s also revealed Gabriel does have a power, intuitive aptitude, which allows him to see how things work. The ability though also makes Gabriel crave more knowledge; he kills Brian and takes his power, the first of many victims and powers. Sylar was born.

The intriguing thing about Sylar was, we didn’t see him for half the first season. He was mentioned and we say many of his victims, and okay he was actually seen. But for the most part we never saw his face. Sylar was this dangerous, psychotic foe, but we never saw him. And when we finally saw him clearly it made him more awesome. Zachary Quinto was perfect as Sylar, the many emotions, the many characteristics and personalities he portrays was brilliant.

As said, Brian was the first of many victims of Sylar. In the show Sylar kills at least fifty people, whilst the Sylar in Hiro’s subconscious claims he may have killed hundreds. In fact, he probably has more on-screen kills than any other villain in television history, especially the Sylar in an alternate future where he blows up and kills two hundred thousand people.

And he’s not limited to supporting or minor characters, he kills the main characters as well; including the flying Nathan Petrelli, the prcog Isaac Mendez, all mighty Arthur Petrelli, as well as future Claire, future Nathan, and who should be main characters like electric Elle Bishop, pyrokinetic Meredith Gordon, Chandra Suresh, persuasive Eden McCain, radioactive Theodore Sprague, illusionist Candice Wilmer and loads more.

Another thing about Sylar is, not only is he a great tragic character, he’s a great sympathetic character as well. Most of us can relate to having that feeling of being meant for something greater, it’s just unfortunate for Sylar to have his ability. It’s not his fault! It’s his ability that drives him. We have a great scene where Sylar kills his mother accidentally because she brands him a monster and all he’s trying to do is calm her down. He was so guilty that he pretty much gave in to the hunger and what he thought was his destiny; become a nuclear bomb. Hell, at first he didn’t even want to kill everyone in New York, saying they were completely innocent. Then there’s the point where he kills Elle, his lover at the time, and gives her a funeral; the only victim of his he actually shows remorse.

Like pretty much every single other villain on this list, Sylar is powerful, and for good reason. His intuitive aptitude enables him to gain great control over his newly acquired powers, meaning he’s able to take on multiple evolved humans at the same time. His powers include telekinesis, cryokinesis, kinetic projection, enhanced hearing, eidetic memory (though he would lose this ability when Hiro goes back in time), melting, precognition and induced radiation. And those were just his known abilities at the time; he has killed loads more so we had no idea how many powers he had. He would then lose these abilities (except his original and telekinesis) when infected with the Shanti Virus, but even then he was extremely dangerous as he still killed people. It was even hinted that his intuitive aptitude was breaking through since he still had the hunger part of the ability. When cured he would go on to get regeneration, electric manipulation, alchemy, clairsentience, sound manipulation, lie detection, imprinting, shapeshifting, flight and empathy, as well as retain his telekinesis.

 

While Sylar was manipulated into pretending to be the dead Nathan Petelli by the telepathic Matt Parkman, Sylar managed to latch onto Matt’s mind and torture him, as well as use Matt’s own ability against him. Sylar even managed to take control of Matt’s body before returning to his own.

They did ruin the character a bit by constantly having him change sides. First he’s a villain, then he’s a good guy, then he’s a bad guy again, then he’s good again, then bad again, you get the message.

Unfortunately Heroes has been cancelled, though I do like where it was left. Hopefully there’ll be something in the future, but for now, Sylar remains one of the best villains in telelvision history.
